The Law
We offer help and advice concerning Tree  Preservation Orders and Conservation Areas. Trees may be legally protected by tree  preservation orders (TPO’s) made by the  Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and  the Town and Country Planning (trees)  Regulations 1999 and by temporary planning  conditions. TPO may be imposed to prevent  work. Clearance takes six weeks. Fines for  unauthorised work to protected trees can be  severe for both owner and operator. You also need to give notice if you want to  prune or remove a tree in a Conservation  Area, so the Council can decide if the tree  should be protected by a TPO. We can take the necessary actions on your  behalf to obtain permission to carry out  works.
